Roland was born in Rotterdam/Netherlands. His father being professional Jazz musician, music always played a big part in his life. At the early age of 7 he began playing the piano, followed by the drums at 15. His passion for music grew and soon he joined his own band. They rehearsed in his parent's basement and at several parties and events in Bonn and Cologne.

He grew up to the sounds of Soul, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and Pop which have influenced his style of music.

"Anyone who grew up with this music can count themselves lucky. Together with classical music, these styles form the basis of the music we produce today".

In the mid nineties he first came in contact with Housemusic. Having largely played Mainstream/Club sound at various gigs throughout Bonn / Cologne he started mixing more and more house sounds into his sets.
In 2000 after exposing harder styles like Progressive House,Trance and Psychedelic Trance "i luckily found my way back to classic Housemusic with all it´s different directions."

The fascination of electronic music made him decide to study audio engineering in Frankfurt. During his studies he first started buying his own studio equipment and making his own tracks.
"In the nineties the components were external. Samplers, mixers and effects had to be bought separately at high costs. Today the computer is the centre with a few external components. I wouldn't give it away for anything!!"

Together with Chris he has now been producing for the past year.

"After few sessions Christian and I realised that we have the same musical preferences and complement each other well during the process of producing a track. Our sound orientates itself towards the UK and the US. These influences and our mid European background is what makes Taboo Sound! "
